My Faith

Faith, according to my Funk & Waggn
alls(sp?) , is the total belief in that cannot be proven. By that definition, I have great faith. I have many unquestioned beliefs that I am unable to prove myself…I believe that the Earth is round…I brlieve that the Sun is the center of the Solar System…I believe that the Solar system is in an outer spiral arm of the Milky Way Gataxy…I believe that the Universe began with the “Big Bang” (although, I am looking at the “Oscilating Universe” theory)…I believe that men have visited the Moon…I belive that outer space aliens & their space craft have NOT visited Earth…I believe that man created god(s)…I beelieve that Coldfire lives in the Netherlands…I can’t prove any of the above but have faith that they are true! However, I am willing to listen to arguments against my beliefs…We who share these beliffs
are often accused of having no faith. Our faith is certainly as strong as thoes of our accusers… This may be in the wrong forum, if so, will the moderator move it to the appropriate place.

I agree that you have faith in these areas, but most if not all of the areas you mention, you may not be able to prove, but there are those who can (i.e. scientists, etc.)

The faith that people who believe in a god talk about is faith in something that not only they cannot prove nor disprove, but something that no one has been able to prove or disprove.

They do not really use that definition of faith but a definition that not only includes yourself, but everyone when discussing the unprovable.

Just because you do not have the knowledge or information to prove those things yourself now, that does not preclude that you could not go out and learn what it takes, and prove those things yourself. Religious beliefs cannot be proven, no matter what you learn or do.

Although just as a comment, some of those stated beliefs of yours are best guesses rather than 100% truths.

Unbelievable.

Just say no.

Loverock used smilies, and see where it got him?

Contrary to what some think, you can actually prove things yourself. If Erosthenes proved that the earth was round hundreds and hundreds of years ago, so can you…and I. All you need is a simple stick in the ground and a Sun to produce a shadow. Oh, math skills are a handy thing to have as well.

Anyway, if it’s been done once, it can be done again.

If that’s the criteria, I don’t have a lot of faith. I didn’t believe in Oklahoma until I actually met someone from there (last year, age 25). Yes, I thought there was nothing between TX and KS, and that someone just made up a state to go with the stupid musical. I could see it on the map, but I just didn’t believe.
Oh, we of little faith…
