My Father In Law has passed away

My Father In Law passed away Sunday evening. He was a great guy. He raised seven kids, worked two jobs, and lived for life. When he retired, he hung out at the library and looked up stuff he was always interested in. He learned how to run a computer, learned how to speak German, and was a model airplane nut. He would make kites for my husband when he was a little kid. He’d stay up all night making the perfect kite, and then wake Mr. Kalhoun up at 5 a.m. so they could head out to the lake to fly it.

After his stroke, he’d get stuck on silly little jokes and repeat them over and over.

“How ya doing, Dad?”

“I’m all right but my left side.”

or

“I’m still breathing, both IN and OUT!”

or

“I’m on the right side of the grass.”

We’ll miss you, Dad. You had a great run.

I’m really sorry. :frowning:

Hang in there and do what you are doing…remembering all the cool stuff.

Sounds like he was a wonderful man who had a wonderful life. My condolences to you and yours.

What a beautiful tribute. God go with you and your family, Kalhoun.

I’m sorry, Kalhoun. I agree, he sounded like a great guy.

I’m sure the Big Guy is enjoying his wonderful sense of humor up near the Pearly Gates right now.

My thoughts are with you and your family now, Kalhoun.

Kalhoun,

I’m sorry to hear your sad news. My thoughts go out to you and your family.

My sincere condolences, Kalhoun.

My thoughts are with you and your family. May the joy he brought you overshadow the pain of losing him.

Julie

Dear og!

Life is too short to ever learn to speak German.

He is a brave, brave man to have attempted that.

I am sorry for your loss.

He sounds like he was wonderful. I’m glad you had such a great father-in-law.

Sucks. This whole “living and then getting sick and dying” thing sucks.

Losing a loved one is a deep sadness. My thoughts are with you.

Sincere condolences to you and your family Kalhoun . Take some comfort in knowing that, as you said, he lived for life, and therefore lived a rich, full life, albeit not a long enough one.
