My favorite radio station is playing old TV show themes.

96.7 KCMQ in central Missouri, if anyone’s interested. Classic and hard rock.

I listened to it during the entire 25 mile drive to work, because I thought surely at some point someone would come on and explain what was going on. But it didn’t happen. I heard the themes from Rawhide, Bonanza, Car 54 Where Are You?, Bewitched, and a bunch of others I’ve never even heard of. Was there once a show that involved astronauts going back in time and bringing back a couple of cavepeople to the modern world? Did wackiness ensue?

I’ve heard something like this before. A few years ago, a local oldies station spent an entire weekend being the “All Macarena, All The Time” station. I think they were undergoing a programming change; when they came back up they were playing Top 40 instead of oldies. I hope KCMQ isn’t undergoing a programming change. I hope they’ve just been taken over by deranged time travellers from Demolition Man or something. The only other radio stations my car will pick up all play country, rap, oldies, country, country, or Brittany Spears. If KCMQ stops playing decent music I may have to invest in a CD player for my car.

It’d be a shame if you lose a classic rock station, but WAXQ does have “listen live” web radio - if you can stand the NY accents of the DJs (:D)

A few years ago, an “Adult Contemporary” station to which I listened, before it became a hip hop station, spent a 4 day weekend playing Broadway and Off Broadway show tunes, which I loved. After it changed format, I found the classic rock station, Q104.3 (a/k/a around here as “The Q”) Give it a try, as a back up at least, I think you’ll like it.

It’d be a shame if you lose a Broadway show tunes station, but WERS does have “listen live” web radio - if you can stand to listen around noon on weekends.

Sounds totally fun!

The show you’re thinking of is It’s About Time

My favorite tv theme song is “The Match Game”

I just went to their streaming audio site…they’re playing the theme from “Little House On The Prarie” lol

I think tomorrow morning on my way home from work I’m going to crank the stereo as high as it’ll go at every red light and headbang like Wayne and Garth. No matter what’s playing.
