My Feet are Killiing Me, Who Should I Call?

Another vote of glad the med is helping!

Still wondering what they were thinking about though. Thanks for the update. (And for the thanks.)

Is your weight holding up okay?

The “are you full early?” question is a not too uncommon onc question btw - early satiety can be a sign of various cancers like pancreatic and it can also be caused by damage to the vagus nerve (which is sometimes part of the more common diabetic neuropathy). It may have been asked as part of her standard onc related review of systems. I have no idea how any of that would fit together with symptoms that sound like a mixed peripheral neuropathy. Also some autonomic neuropathy? Doing a quick literature search it’s been reported. Is your blood pressure okay or do you run low or even sometimes faint? Lack of sweating, especially hands? Ever any urine or stool accidents?

Definitely something to make sure the neurologist and the primary doc know about!

They must be puzzled by something in your results.

Your other lab issues weren’t kidney related were they? Another rare thing (zebras we call these med school items that students think of when they hear hoofbeats, instead of horses) is Fabry Disease.

Are you diabetic? I’m not a medical professional, but some of this sounds a bit like neuropathy to me.

Gotta start reading more of the thread before posting. (sigh)

Hoping you find the answer (and even more important, a solution!).

It’s been a bit after that last appointment … any update?

Sounds like peripheral neuropathy. Have your A1C and liver functions checked.

One more time … any update?

Sorry. They want to take a bone marrow sample. Unfortunately my primary care physician also wants me to come in to take a 4 second look at me before she refills my other prescriptions (high blood pressure, high anxiety, birth control). That appointment is Friday and then we’re broke till the 15th. Then I can see about the marrow sampling.

They’ve taken my blood 4 times now; I’m sure they tested for everything by now. My blood pressure is fine, controlled by the prescription, I sweat fine, no accidents. I’ve checked Fabry, doesn’t seem like it. No one in my family has it but my mother does have neuropathy.

Also I’m tired all the time. Slept late, got on the couch, dozed the entire rest of the day, then went to bed Labor Day. And the gabapentin isn’t really working all that great. I’ve never been more depressed in my life and none of the pills work. But that’s another story.

Sorry that you are having to deal with the whole pile of it. And I really am at a loss to understand what they are suspicious of or why. What have they explained is the concern that motivates the bone marrow biopsy? Were there some particular findings on any of your lab tests?

I suspect I speak for others here - know that we are thinking of you and hoping for the best.
