Paper lanterns. Set them up on the deck where you’ll dine on a special dinner you cooked up yourself.
I’ve been trying to figure out the same thing for my husband! What I decided to get was a replica of the top layer of our wedding cake, and a framed copy of the front page of the newspaper from our wedding date.
Speaking as a woman, what I’m hoping to get from my husband is: a) something meaningful, like an album of our year together or b) jewelry.
I’d get art. A work on paper would be appropriate. You can get something by a local artist.
Huh. Mr. Snicks and I just celebrated our 8th last night, and all we did was go out for a really nice meal. I guess we’re just not big on anniversary gifts. We did used to go out and buy cards together, then write on them right there in the parking lot and exchange them (so, it’s a weird tradition, but we liked it), but lately we haven’t even done that much. A few times he’s brought me flowers, so that’s nice.
He turned to me Monday and said, “I haven’t gotten you anything for our anniversary.” I replied, “that’s OK, I haven’t gotten you anything either.” Oh! But as it turns out, I did buy him something yesterday - a bottle of Hendrick’s gin. It’s a brand he really likes, and we were out, and I had to run a few errands anyway, so hey presto!
Maybe ask your wife what she’d like - that’s my best advice.
