My garage stinks

As in pure, unadulterated stench. I know why, too. I had a piece of fish that I didn’t cook and it started to smell just a bit in the refridgerator, so I threw it out. Two days of 80+ temperatures has created a reeky funkness that is nearly vomit inducing.

The only way to fix it would be to retrieve the offending filet and put it in a couple of sealed bags, but it is at the bottom of a large (chest high) wheeled cart. I can’t put it outside, as it would attract racoons and other varmints and I’d have my garbage all over the neighborhood tomorrow morning. So far the stench is confined to the garage but another warm day and it might start seeping in the house. Garbage day isn’t until Tuesday.

MPSIMS

Get a roll of Saran Wrap or similar cling wrap and "shrink wrap the can until tuesday

Nuke it from orbit. It’s the only way to be sure.

That or aerosol. Lots and lots of aerosol.

People use Arm and Hammer in the fridge, sink, freezer etc. to absorb oders so maybe get a couple boxes and pour them in the container?

You can buy a cheap painting dropcloth and cover the whole container.

If the stink lingers ( I doubt it will in this case, but I am familiar with the situation of covering cooking smells from rental property) you can rent ozone generators at equipment supply places. They don’t advertise, but they are in every town, supplying temporary equipment, ladders and scaffolds, to painting contractors.

Blech!!! That’s got to be on a par with the time we cleaned our our fridge just before going on vacation.

For two weeks.

In July.

I wonder if Vetbridge’s solution might be helpful? Just a bit of lime and a bunch of topsoil might hide the stench!

Reminds me of the fish I caught on the class trip. Mother drove me there, the fish went in the trunk, and we went home. Later that week on the way to the grocery store she pulls over, because something stinks. Severely rotted fish in the trunk! She was very pissed, and I was ready to wretch as I had to remove them to the road side.

Remember to bleach the container after trash pickup.
