My guitar is in Des Moines!

I love being able to track packages on the UPS site. While I’m waiting for my new American Vintage '52 Telecaster to arrive, I can follow its progress from the heartland to the left coast. At 8:50 this morning, it arrived in Des Moines! I’ve never been to Des Moines.

Is the internet great or what?

I have. Trust me, you’re not missing a thing.

Coming from the middle of Wisconsin, I’m not sure you get to sling mud. Des Moines isn’t THAT bad.

Coming from the relative civilization of Chicago, yes, Des Moines IS that bad.

Stuck in the middle of the Central Time Zone is Des Moines, in what is called the “1950’s”.

  1. I am coveting your guitar.

  2. Your screen name is completely awesome.

I don’t live in Wisconsin; I live in Madison. Totally different head…totally different.

If only. I grew up 30 miles from DSM and it feels more like 1985 when I go back. Maybe 'cause that’s the last time I spent much time there.

Nice gitbox you got there. I’ve always liked the Telecaster design over the Strat.

Thanks Izzybella!

Mr. Blue Sky, I’ve always been more of a Gibson guy. I do own a Strat, but I seldom play it anymore. But over the past year I’ve started developing an itch to get a Tele, and I have a real good feeling about this one.

I’m here to second Otto’s comment. Madison is practically an annex of the West Coast. It’s nothing at all like the rest of Favreland.

But I’ve never gotten head anywhere in Wisconsin but Madison, so I can’t speak to that issue.

And Biffy - congrats on the guitar. Sounds sweet. My new archtop is $140 away from paid for and sitting in the back room of the shop as we speak. I’m not allowed to get it until we’re done moving this week.

The anticipation just kills you, doesn’t it? But it’s great and by great I mean totally sweet when you finally get it home - it’s like Christmas and your birthday all rolled into one.

Jeezus…all I’ve ever done in Madison was have lunch!

An old Tom T. Hall song is now running through my head.

An American Vintage '52 Telecaster, eh? I see you good taste in guitars.
