My hairdresser is jealous...

Apparently my hair grows a lot faster than other people’s do. I go in for a trim every 4 months or so, and she is always shocked that my hair grows at least 3-4 inches in that time frame. That and that it’s thick too. At least her hair is one uniform texture; mine’s partly straight, partly wavy, and partly curly. This makes for the oddest looks. I have frizzies in the straight parts and the curly parts are fine. She threatened to smack me with a comb if the next time I came in it was nearly down to my waist. LOL, I find that highly amusing, but that’s probably not gonna be until february at earliest. Does your hairdresser comment on stuff about your hair, and what is it?

Well my hair is about mid-thigh length and whenever I do anything to it everyone insists upon cooing over it because it’s long, thick and almost disgusting healthy.

Mine threaten bodily harm if I do anything to my hair (dye, perm, etc)I always get the “Take very, very good care of this stuff” lecture.

The person I am truly envious of is my friend Laurel. Beautiful deep red hair, thick, and grows fast! She grows it out long and then hacks it off pretty routinely. She’s so perfect, if I didn’t adore her as much as I do I’d want her dead. As it is I just love her.

The hairdressers comment on everyone’s hair. When I was getting mine done for homecoming they were like " Oh, she has such pretty curls." That being said, your hair is gorgeous Tasha, I would kill for hair like that. Wash hair, leave wet, let dry. It’s not fair!

Mine is very thick and healthy and grows very fast, although I wear it short (I have to get it cut every 4-6 weeks). Hairdressers frequently start calling over other hairdressers to admire it. “Great hair.” “Yes, that is really great hair.”

The funniest experience I had was when I had grown it out a few years ago and decided to get it cut short again. The hairdresser called over the owner of the shop to speak with me to make sure I wanted it cut off. They told me that for legal reasons, they needed two witnesses to hear me say, “Yeah, chop it all off.” I guess they don’t want be sued by someone who says, “Oh my God!! I didn’t want it THAT short.”

Is this an all girls thread? Wrorrrr. Please let me join, as it were. Because I too have encountered the jealous stylist.

Guys never seem to get all worked up over this, but women stylists practically get hostile with me when I go in to get my hair cut. I usually tell the gal to keep it short, I want to cut out the curls. “But your hair is so naturally curly and fine. How about we work with that”, they say. “Yeah, I know. But I don’t like curls and I never have. I want them cut out.”

They go about their business and give me scowls and advice that I should never say that to a woman. “Woman strive for that, you know!”.

This might be the singularly most useless thread I’ve ever seen (as it pertains to me)!

I haven’t had a haircut in damn near two years, and when I did get my hair cut it was most often by my father, the sole other ones being by me (read: mistakes) and two classmates (rad: evil prank and a mistake).

Enough people think my hair looks not totally repulsive that I’m not cutting it any time soon. 'Side which, my neck looks damn big when it’s short.

My hair grows pretty quickly, too. When I started school two years ago it was in between my chin and my shoulders. Now it’s about halfway down my back even though I’ve gotten my hair cut several times since then. It’s very thick, too. One hairstylist I used to go to would swear that it grew as she was cutting it. (“How can you have so much left on your head when there’s a big pile on the floor?”)

The only problem I have with my hair is that it tends to get frizzy in high humidity – not a good thing when you live in Florida. I love this time of year because it’s the only time that my hair will actually lay down.

I’m envious just hearing about her hair.

I just thought of this a little while ago. Does your friend know about Locks of Love? There was an article about them in our local paper recently. It’s a charity that makes wigs for kids who have medical hair loss. If you have long hair and you’re planning on cutting off ten inches or more (the specific requirements are on the page) you can donate the hair to make wigs for the kids.

If she (or anyone else) is interested in donating hair, there’s a list of participating salons on the site. Many of them give free haircuts for donors, and a few do free makeovers.

If there is one thing I am vain about, it is my hair.

Hairdressers love me. It’s thick, long, and the perm I got has stayed in for almost a year without reperming. I might never perm it again if it remains like it has. I can wash it and let it air dry and have ringlets, or I can blow dry it, roll it, and have straight/wavy hair.
It’s neither fine nor coarse, and it’s a chestnut color in the winter and a reddish-golden-brown in the summer.

Ahhhh…I love it.
