In high school we had a tree that grew very close to our physics classroom. Our teacher used to talk about how he was going to retire as soon as a branch from the tree grew to touch the window.
One day they cut it down.
We came in and he was just staring out the window.
American History at my local Community College. The professor was talking about how life for the average farming family was a century ago… How people grew their own vegetables, slaughtered their own cattle for beef… Choked their own chickens…
NOBODY laughed. I don’t know if they were so bored out of their skulls from the lecture, or were too horrified at what he just said. Anyway, I chuckled a couple times.
