If I wanted to smoke in my room in your extended-stay dive that smells of smoke in every hallway, and with smoke coming through every ventilation system, all I’ve got to do is walk down to the front desk and ask to change rooms.
I’m real happy that I’ve made it five days without a cigarette, and that I was able to walk around in Leadville (Elevation 10,152) today without collapsing in a heap of mucus, and I don’t need any shit from you just because there’s a box of Nicoderm in my room.
They seem to think that because I have nicotine patches in my room, that that means I am failing to quit smoking and am smoking in a non-smoking room. This in a hotel that has smelled like smoke everywhere I have been in it. This in a hotel that is 50% smoking rooms that I could easily change to if I wished to smoke.
That’s the bewildering part. I’ll readily accept that there is probably some smoke odor off my clothes and luggage, and will be until time and laundry happens. I could understand this worry in a hotel that was 100% non-smoking, or if I rented a room that was non-smoking because that was the only room available. This place has lots of smoking rooms and many are available. All I’ve got to do is switch rooms if I want to smoke; what the hell?
That is bewildering; would have thought that the patches are evidence that you are failing to smoke, not the other way around.
Meanwhile, weird tangent regarding cigarette smell: my Mom’s last car was a '96 Honda Accord, bought new. She smoked in it all the time. When she passed away in 2008, my sister ended up with the car. She doesn’t smoke (in the car at least) and has cleaned and Fabrezed the interior of that damn thing several times. Nevertheless, I got in the car last week and it still sreeks of my Mom’s stale cigarettes. Jeepers.
Mom’s ghost may be sneaking a smoke in that car. Apparently they go back to [del]my[/del] their favorite smoking places and leave butts around and other evidence of smoking. I have no idea why they smoke my brand.
Sure. When I was out here on vacation last year, I was able to find them. They’re easier to find as you go lower-end, and very easy to find in extended-stay places.
But I was able to find them because I’d plan ahead for the day and make a reservation online. I’ve found in the last few years that my former style of randomly stopping when I felt like it worked for room availability but not for smoking room availability. With luck and determination, I now can return to the random method.
