My little girl (10) is officially a triathlete.

Yep.

We trained together early in the mornings. Swam laps and went for runs. Then stretched and did abs while we talked about all kinds of stuff in the quiet corner of the gym. She really liked being up early and rolling into the gym with me. I really enjoyed having her to myself a couple of mornings a week.

She raced this weekend. Did great with a 4th place finish.

I’m so proud of her. I’m ferklempt.

Good for her!

Congratulations! You must be so proud, and I’m vicariously proud for you.

Aw : wipes away tear : reminds me of my childhood, it does.

I was quite the little triathlete as a kid. I participated in the Iron kids series (do they still have those?) and won my division at nationals. Everyone has to be a national champion in something, I say. All I remember is that part of the prize package was a t-shirt and blow up loaf of bread. Who the hell needs a blow up loaf of bread? (The sponsor was Iron Kids Bread).

My favorite triathalon was in Catalina. I’m not sure if you’re even near CA, but if that’s an option, that’d a fun one. You swim in the ocean (freezing, but wet suits are really cool to a 8-10 year old), bike around the island, and run up a mountain. Fun stuff.

It was fun while it lasted, but now I’m pretty much a bump on a log. I do love biking still.

Ah! I left out the most important part!

Tell her congrats for me! If she wants, I can try to find the blow up bread loaf
