My Lunch is Not Good

I love TJ’s, but even they have the occasional clunker.

My wife and I love their frozen taquitos. They’ve got 'em in beef, chicken, and chickenesque (vegetarian taquitos that, yep, taste like chicken :)). I like the chickenesque ones the best.

Have you tried the Massaman Chicken? That’s my favorite rice-bowl dish. But right now the wife and I are doing a lot of the frozen stir-fry dishes for dinner (garlic chicken, kung-pao chicken, and shrimp stir-fries are our favorites; I augment them with more TJ’s frozen veggies and frozen shrimp), and I take the leftovers in for lunch the next day.

Also, their raviolis (in the refrigerated section) with part of a jar of their vodka marinara sauce, heated and poured over them.

And you’ll see me on weekend mornings at the Annapolis TJ’s.

The trick with rice cakes is to add fat, which adds flavor. Spread (liberally) with butter (or margarine if you wish) and sprinkle with flavorful things, like cinnamon sugar or garlic and herbs and microwave for 10-15 seconds. Voila – moist, flavorful rice cakes.

I only recommend this, however, when there’s nothing better to eat in the house. (And you have no means to get to a store or restaurant, no money until payday anyway, and no friends, relatives or neighbors who will take pity and give you better food.)

Well, today I’ve got Chicken Vindaloo w/ Curry Sauce over Steamed Rice. It, too, says Low Fat but I’ve had it before and it’s good.

tlw, all the fat in the world can’t help those things.
