Yeah, that’s where I’m headed, though I think for the fun of it I’m going to take one last run at it. [because I’m wondering if her old laptop is still attached to wifi, and if so how, and if it is I’m going to look at what password it’s using to attach] But anyway yeah, already looking at replacement routers.
Another possible approach, assuming that the router came as part of the internet service from her ISP, is to contact them for support. My ISP configures the routers they supply with a technician user account, and can log into the router remotely for troubleshooting. If the ISP support are also unable to connect, then you know it’s time for a new router, but depending on the contract your MIL has, you / she may not have to buy it.
That’s a good thought. She & my wife are off on a cruise with limited contact, so I’ll mull that one over.
