My Mom's house hit by space debris

My mom lives in a condo with a young couple in the other half of her building. Monday, just a little after noon, a piece of space debris crashed thru the roof of her neighbor’s bedroom–DIRECTLY ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE WALL OF MY MOM’S BEDROOM.

The police and the FAA examined it and then notifed NASA who is sending a representative to pick it up for analysis. They have been intructed to “bag it and don’t handle it much, it’s probably not radioactive or dangerous. But just in case…keep it securely under lock and key.”

Mom has been interviewed on TV and stuff. A local minor celebrity–you know the person it almost hit.

Interview with her neighbors in whose home it landed

The Object

Just don’t try to sell it on Ebay!

It’s part of the landing gear from our model 3XJ “Terran Strafer” flying saucer, and we’d like it back.

You should buy that house. What are the odds of something else hitting it!

She and her neighbors are very lucky… There are so many ways that it could have gone terribly wrong.

My Mother-in-law’s house has debris in every space.

I know it’s scarey when you think about it. It actually landed on the bed where the woman and her 7 week old baby were sleeping and bounced off. There is a busy road right behind the house too. Think what might have happened if it landed on a vehicle.

It arrived from orbit and ‘bounced off a bed’? That thing must have a low terminal velocity.

I suppose most of it’s kinetic energy would have been expended punching through the roof but still!

Wow, that’s a pretty big lug nut. And to think it only missed me by about 30 miles or so. Yikes!
