cher, the can I bought said it is appropriate to use with a Self-Cleaning Oven, but not a Continuously Cleaning Oven.
Mine is Self Cleaning. It did an okay job. Still a lot of baked on gunk, to be honest it doesn’t look sparkling new. It looks as though the easy stuff to dissolve was dissolved.
And the hard stuff was still there…
Oven Cleaners are one of the most toxic cleaners on the market. Most contain LYE! I would not suggest using that horrible poison anywhere near anything that comes in contact with food. Here’s doing it naturally:
Combine 3/4 cup baking soda and 1/4 cup salt. Add 1/4 cup water and mix into a thick paste. Put on oven and let sit overnight. The next morning wipe it up.
For any crud still on the oven, use a wet pumice stone.
And from now on, clean the bottom of the oven as soon as you take the food out. Sprinkle salt on it and wipe up later with a damp sponge.
Oh wait, that’s shampoo, not oven cleaner.
[small]No I do not mean to imply you should stick your head in the oven.**
ooooh, to clean the oven. I thought you were soliciting suicide advice.

I keep confusing those two…

I think that next time, I will use it and remove it with a Dobie Pad, not paper toweels. The suicide concept is a BIT over the top, although I sure did a lot of household repairs while they were visiting.
