My new feline overlords

I mentioned over in the quarantine forum that I had just adopted two kittens. My previous cat had passed away due to kidney issues. I live alone and I can deal with not having people around but not having feline companionship was awful! My vet’s office knew I needed a new friend or two and called me when these two came in. They’re sisters and I knew I couldn’t split them up. Everyone say hi to Tabitha (tabby) and Calliope (calico)!

Aww, congrats on your new feline overlords. May they treat you with mercy and an even [del]hand[/del] paw.

SQUEEEEEE!

Such cuties!

SQUEEEE!!

Oh god… <cuteness overload>

I love how Calliope has her little paw turned up. I’m so glad they like each other. When I had three cats, two of them got along beautifully with the third. But when he died, the two remaining ones fight like cats and [del]dogs[/del] cats. Sigh.
ETA: Ninja’d.

Oh very nice!

and two kittens are better than one, both for the kittens and for their human.

Aww, what a beauty! It’s amazing the variations there can be in a calico’s coat.

That’s why I don’t volunteer at the local cat shelter; I’d have a houseful of kittens in no time.

Oh man, I want a kitty too!
My good old cat died last year. He could handle our four dogs just fine, but it seems a bit much to ask of a new cat. I’m just going to have to wait for a better time (or until the universe sends me a kitty, as it has been known to…)

Uh-oh, the word is out now!

Better go look on your front porch.

I know, I’m flirtin’ with disaster, here.

Oh how adorable! Don’t you just love the pointed face of a kitten.:stuck_out_tongue:

My kitten Atilla is coming up on his fifteenth birthday. He was born either very late on 4/29 or very early on 4/30, after I went to bed but before I got up. I’d love to have a new kitten but dread losing Atilla.

Nice, congrats! But…? overlady - Wiktionary

If he seems in generally good health, he may well have another two to five years coming; possibly even more.

If he starts losing significant weight, get him to the vet. (yes, they’re essential services): some common causes of weight loss in older cats are easily treatable, especially if dealt with soon enough.

He sees the vet twice a year. I consider regular health care a must for my pets. Atilla is hard to catch though, he seems psychic at times, starting to hide the day before the appointment. He’s a good lap kitty but I have to chase him down to get him in the carrier.

Now Mauser, my dog, loves going out, even if it is to the vet. Just get out a leash and he’s dancing around.

The oldest cat I had was Vladimir, who passed at sixteen. But I’d only had him for five years, adopting him from a friend who just missed going to jail. Dude got probation but he knew and accepted I kept the cat. When Vlad started to fail my friend accompanied me to the vet for that final visit, after all, he’d had him for eleven years. We buried him in my back yard.

Congrats on your new bundles of cuteness! They’re gonna grow up to be a couple of beautiful kitties.

My own is 13 now, and misses her best buddy who passed last year. Gotta get us a new one soon.
