So maybe being a member of a religion is like being a fan of a football team, except that you support a team that doesn’t exist.

One of my favorite prayers:
Dear God, I think you’re pretty cool, but please please please protect me from your Fan Club. Amen

And here I thought it was a thread about your newly found regard for religion.

How rude! an atheist expressing that he thinks God doesn’t exist! Believing that there’s no God is fine, but they shouldn’t go rubbing it in our faces by mentioning it!

Starting a thread called “My newly found regard for religion” as an excuse to go around snarking on religion for the forty-billionth time is a tad passé, though. We got it, already. You don’t believe in God. I don’t believe in Thor, but I manage to go for months at a time without having to drag the conversation around to my so-important non-belief.
I’m in Flint Mi and not only did I know about it but I know someone who’s there. I’ve also seen articles in the news, so it’s not unreasonable to think Americans might have heard of this event.
I went to a fund-raising concert for some attendees and they were out of tune there too!

Or use a thread title that reflects what the thread is about. Oh, that’s right; atheists don’t have a moral code.
