My plow is a wuss.

Of all the bigger, more catastrophic things that can go wrong with 8 cylinders and a blade, the blower motor breaks.

So yea, it runs, it revs, the blade moves, but I can’t see through the windows (no defroster).

Dammit.

And it’s too damn cold and snowy to work on it.
Well I just got off the phone with a parts place and I can get a new motor, but now I have to decide if I’m gonna do it myself or try to get it to my mechanic and have him do it. (Hmmm, maybe he’ll tow it.)

Oh, and I’m not even 100% sure it’s the motor, I still haven’t tested the leads.

Fuse!

Don’t be a wuss. Fix it yourself.

I should have driven my plow truck in to work today, I could have stopped by and plowed you out. But I didn’t, it’s sitting at home with the bloick heater plugged in waiting for me to return.

In my plow truck ('76 Chevy) the blower fan would always run. Something about fresh air or something.

Anyway, it kept wearing it out. So I put in a seperate switch so I could turn the thing completely off.

Just bust out the windshield - you won’t need the motor then.

Alright here’s the update.

I checked power to the blower and there wasn’t any, so this was clearly electrical.
Problem with checking the fuse is that when the installed the plow, they mounted the joystick over the fuse panel. So I took the joystick off, pulled the fuse, yup blowen. Call dad/boss ask him to stop on his way back from somewhere and get another fuse. Oh and while you’re at it get that motor on hold, might as well drop it in as long as I’m elbow deep in grease and my shoes are full of snow. The motor has been making ALOT of noise lately and it’s probably what caused the problem.

Anyways, all said and done, new motor, new fuse, the truck is warming up right now and I’m off to plow.
