My psychopathically pro-American coworker just went way over the line.

Gun laws are strict in other countries, but that doesn’t mean you’re not allowed to have guns; and Europe is hardly Socialist.

For me, America ISN’T the best place to live, not by a longshot, but I still like the US.

I’ve lived abroad, in Toulouse and Calais, France. I loved it both times (well Toulouse was much better than Calais). I loved travelling but I felt I was missing tons by not being there longer than a couple days. As for living in another country, there were great things about france. I love the language, and the markets are wonderful.
I prefer to stay in the US, just as the place I grew up, where the people I love are, and because it’s what I grew up with. I happen to think that the US is great in many ways (and not so great in others), but that’s my choice. It’s the best country for me. For someone else, it could be another country. And if you haven’t travelled, you can’t really know that no other countries are right for you. You have to taste it and speak it and smell it and hear it for it to be a real experience (and this is coming from a person who reads non-stop).
As to the OP, that woman would really piss me off. She sounds like an intolerant busybody who can’t stand anyone being or thinking differently. If you can figure out some way to ram it home to her that she should leave off, then by all means, do it!

I think next time you go into work, you need to have someone dim the lights, and start blaring “Real American” by Hulk Hogan on a tape player. Then, you wear a tear-away t-shirt and feather boa over your work clothes. Enter the office to great fanfare, jump up on her desk, kick some stuff off it, tear off the shirt, hold up an American flag, look her in the eye, and shout, “NOW who’s a real American, BROTHER?!?”

OMFG!! I work with those “rah rah patriot” bitches… KIRAI DESU NE (Japanese for I HATE THEM)!!!

… people who have nothing better to do than to test you on some donkey ass idealistic nationalism… fuckers!!

bows gomenasai, don’t mean to offend anyone, but I know exactly what you talkin bout.

You are indeed entitled to your opinion. I was just pointing out that, since your opinion on this matter is based on self-proclaimed complete ignorance, then your opinion is totally and utterly fucking worthless.

It is, however, still yours. I hope you and it get on fine - you’re made for each other.

By the way, on your instruction, I went and fucked myself, and most pleasurable it was too. Thanks.

FTR, when I lived abroad, it was in a really and truly fucked up country, with far more security problems than the US, and it STILL taught me that other places are neat and interesting and worthwhile.

gobear:

Just a point of clarification… By “JW” you meant Jehovah’s Witness, right? Not Jewish?

Ah, crap.

How do you include those cool quote thingy’s?

I live in Canada. I have only lived in Canada.

Based on that, I can say, from what others say (whose opinions are better than mine), that there are far fewer die-hard patriots who tend to annoy everyone than there are in the States.

Of course, maybe I just live in a laid-back area!
