Well, it feels like a cold anyway. Had a root canal done two days ago and my sinuses haven’t settled down since, pressure, congestion, drainage and general tenderness. My teeth feel fine, it’s the other crap that’s killing me.
Is this common and if so, how long will this crud last?!
If they aerosolized decayed matter in the process of drilling out the canal, and you inhaled it, you’d have spread that decay - all those bacteria - around in your respiratory system.
Also, if we’re talking about a tooth in your upper jaw, the root may well extend into your sinus. Many do. I had a molar that got a filling, then a crown, then a root canal, then an extraction - and its roots were mostly projecting into the sinus, with only a small fraction of the roots running through real socket. I got all kinds of extra warnings during the extraction to be very careful and gentle with it so I didn’t wind up with a permanent hole between my mouth and my sinus. In any case, tooth infection and sinus infection can be the same problem.
