… and I’mn just opening this to brag about it.
For the first time in the 5 years I’ve been in this league, the team I was on won it all. Hell of a title game, too; after six games of your weekend marathon tournament we were matched up against the league’s #1 ranked team - they went 26-8 this year - and played about as good a game of slo-pitch as can be played. Almost no errors were made; the defense was crisp, the pitching tight.
We surged ahead 8-4 and then melted down completely in the top of the 5th inning (tournament games are 7 innings only, so that’s running out of time) giving up 7 runs to fall behind 11-8.
“No problem,” we all said, and promptly scored four in the bottom of the 5th to take a 12-11 lead. And so it remained; no more runs were scored, and they left the tying run on third base when the final out was made.
We defeated our foes with neither pity nor regret. All bow before us in our slo-pitch league!
