My Son Is Deserting Me. And That's A Good Thing.

And believe me when I say I know what you are feeling. Unfortunately, it does not get better, but you kind of get used to it. I am told.

It appears my son is heading back to Iraq in April.

Shodan

That was a joke. Apparently my sense of humor is misplaced here.

And he can claim it.

And by the way, he’s NOT Kenyan, unlike your hidden text suggests.

Just to say I totally got it that your son still home at 35 was your worry.

Congratulations to you, raising a son who can stand on his own 2 feet at 18 and knows what he wants to do to begin the journey to make his way in life.

More kudos to your son for not only realizing his situation in life at his age, but for choosing to join up and serve his country.

And apparently my sense of humour is misplaced here

George, I am a bit tender these days. My apologies for going off a bit half cocked. I saw your joke waaay too late. You are the victim here, not me.

Tell that to these guys.

Well… he is from the Chicago Political Machine… so he at least honorary…

It’s hard to let them go but we must. I hope he does well and you will adjust. It took me a while. Good Luck!

Nobody’s perfect.

I know where you’re coming from, as a member of the Airforce he’ll probably be on drugs within the week and knitting his own socks at weekends.

But that apart to the O.P. be happy that your sons done the right thing, is going to have a good life and that you can be very proud of him.

Conscientious objectors can get behind serving our country. It’s the military they object to, not the idea of public service.
