Congrats on the safe return of your son.
My elder son is currently in AF Basic Training and I’m starting to feel the jitters that comes with having a child in the military…even if it is the AF.

Let him know many of Dad’s persistent antagonists are glad he’s home, wish you all a great time during this break, offer our respect for his commitment and hope for an uneventful rest of his tour.
Bumping this -
MY SON IS ON THE WAY! He texted us - he is on American soil, and preparing to return to me! HE IS OK! He is coming home!
Zombie thread! WHO CARES!!!

Shodan
Congratulations! You must be so relieved. We share your joy!
Congratulations, Shodan! That’s great news. Give him a hug from this dopester.
That’s great, Shodan!!!
That’s wonderful!!
good news - give him big hugs!
I can’t believe I missed this the first time up. It’s possible your son and I might have run into each other. Small theater.
I know it’s a bit late (what with him having already come-and-gone), but one Doper recommended letting him get a lot of slob time in. I’d have to echo that: when I got back, I spent a month sleeping on the couch in my underwear all day. With a bear and my four-legged best friend curled up beside me, of course.
As a former Army man from a long line of Army men, I ::salute:: you and your son. Happy trails, Shodan.
W00t!!!11111!!!
Excellent news! Quite a birthday present, indeed!
That’s great news!
A bear???
Congrats, Shodan!
And no small brown bear either, Skylark only lets full-grown Kodiak bears share the couch!
Maybe you did - he seems to be rather well known. 34th Infantry “Red Bull”. He’s a medic - he gave the eulogy at Carlos Wilcox’s memorial service.
Thanks for your service.
Regards,
Shodan
I’m still waiting for the bill for the beers you were supposed to buy him. Service such as his should not go unrewarded or unremarked.
Great news, Shodan! Thanks for the update.
Glad to hear it. Other than letting him sleep as late as he wants, and eat whatever he wants, any other tentative plans? How long will you have him home?
