My spider buddy drowned

Sorry for your loss, CP… Jumping spiders are by far my favorite kind of spider. It’s hard to imagine for some people, but these little critters are CUTE! They’re not too big, they’re not all spindly or creepy crawly, and they’re usually fuzzy with bright patterns. And they bounce around and seem to watch everything around them… I’m always happy to see a jumping spider go about its business.

I lost a spider buddy this past week. It was some kind of little orb web weaver that kept making nice radial webs in the corner of my front door. I had to tell guests to watch their head and not disturb it… She stayed put for about a month, rebuilding the web whenever necessary and hiding above the door when anybody came by. But the past week the web was in disarray and didn’t get repaired for several days. It finally disappeared… So the spider either found better hunting grounds or met with foul (or possibly fowl) play…

RIP little spider buddy!

EZ

Hey, carnivorous plant, sorry for the loss of your 8 legged pal. It’s nice to see someone else out there who loves spiders. I have this tiny little jumping spider who lives on the screen window in my kitchen. I’ve watched him jump up, catch a fruit fly, and encase it in silk. I am his biggest fan, since I hate drosophila, and I’m glad to have him on the team.

I also had this argiope (ord weaver) living on my porch at my last house. This guy was about 4 inches long and scary as hell, but I forbade anyone to harm her. She and I have the same goal-- elimination of other bugs in and around my house.

Yay spiders!

Ok, now I admit that clicking on the first picture was entirely my fault. I Hate spiders with a deep oh so deep passion. I don’t even know why I clicked on this thread since most of the time I can’t even Read about them!

But I swear to Og, the next poster that promises a nice fluffy dog to sooth my creeped out nerves and instead delivers a Big Hairy Spider that makes me jump… I swear I’ll… I’ll, well, I’ll go make my gf watch pg rated movies with me until Big Hairy Spiders are out of my brain. There! How do ya like That? Hmmm?

Then you should definitely check out Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. Good flick and only rated PG.

And Return of the King is also 100% spider free

(no, Shelob is NOT a spider, spiders don’t have 10 legs and a stinger do they?)

Ha! Don’t you try to fool me. I saw that in the theater with my gf. Just when Shelob comes on the screen I got Really tense and grabbed ahold of her. Then do you know what she did?

BOO! Yup, She jumped so she would scare the shit out me. She ended up getting slapped on the leg out and everyone who was sitting around us had a Very good laugh. Hmmph… Women.

Okay then, how about the MST3k experiment “Warrior of the lost world” ?

actually, i think you’d enjoy “Eight Legged Freaks”
