(I think the downfall of the organ was when they tore down Chicago Stadium and didn’t salvage its marvelous machine of music.)
Well, someone salvaged it. The guy who owns the Sacramento Kings has it inside his nevada palace. There’s quite a few youtube videos of aficionados making a pilgrimage to the organ. 
Somehow, “. . . making a pilgrimage to the organ” just doesn’t sound right. Especially in Nevada.

Dang…missed that one. One of my favorite exchanges with a guy I play squash with:
“So you’re a musician, eh? Classical?”
“Yeah, I play piano and organ!”
“Hey, easy there! We all play with our organs sometimes, no need to brag about it.” 
“Yes, but I doubt very many of you play with yours in a church.”
