Umm… That’s a little bit different (actually A VERY GREAT DEAL different). The town and the annexed area are presumably in the same state and certainly in the same country. I think it’s reasonable to assume that the state that these locations are in was in agreement with the annexation. In the case of “annexing” Mexico you are talking one country taking over another. Yes, “invade” would be the accurate term for it.

Regardless how little it takes to amuse you, we do not take kindly to trolling–posting bullshit for the sole purpose of angering other posters.
