Saturday nights are always a little off for me because my TiVo doesn’t record anything for me on Saturdays. I sit down to watch tv before bed and always go “oh…um. That’s right. Nothing new.”
So what is on on Saturdays that is good?

I’m in the same boat. There’s nothing new on Saturdays. I’ll watch the House rerun on USA and the remastered Star Trek episode that comes on in my area. Or I’ll watch a movie which I had recorded earlier to save specifically for an off night. But that’s about it.
y’all have suggestions turned on, right?
I’d love to. But I have a Comcast DVR and their software does not have that feature. Comcast will be rolling out TiVo software for their DVR boxes sometime this year, but it’s not yet available in my area.
If you watch real-life murder and mayhem tales, the 48 Hour Mystery (CBS) is usually good. Or the Law & Orders.
I should check if SNL is payinh homage
I have too much stuff archived on my TiVo for it to save suggestions. (Like I have something like 25 hour long episodes of First Wave that I need to offload to DVD one of these days). Basically new things only stick around for 2 days, max. It’s full up.
Same here, and I’m grateful. If Saturdays and Mondays had shows worth DVRing, that would mean even more of a backlog, and even less time to do things that actually need to get done.
(And yes, I know, I could simply not watch so much TV. Shoo, you, with your logical, practical answers!)
Interested in anime? Check out Cartoon Network from 8:00 pm to 1:00am.
You can dump them onto your computer as well.
TCM usually has a good movie on Saturday night. Forget the networks, though: they rarely show anything other than reality shows and reruns (and reruns of reality shows). No one is watching Saturday, so they aren’t wasting a show.
No, I can’t. Not without hacking the box to put some sort of port on it.
Despise anime.
I don’t have a space problem, but I still have auto-record turned off (and before anybody gives me the “suggestions won’t supersede any of your other recordings blah blah” speech, I know, I just prefer to have it this way), so what I do is just manually go through the suggestions and select anything that appeals to me.
Hmmm…do you like any of the real estate flipping shows? “Flip This House” is on Saturday night. I usually save my Stargate and Painkiller Jane shows for the weekends when there’s not so much on.
Which box do you have?
You can download TivoDesktop and use that.
Fridays amd Saturdays for me. I use those nights for Netflix Movies and catching up on TiVo’d stuff I didn’t get to. I’ll also check the classic movie netwoks and whatever Cinemax is premiering.
You may want to consider upgrading the hard drive then. I had have a series 1 Tivo that only had 14 hours of recording time on it. I upgraded it to 140 hours and it was pretty damn easy and totally worthwhile.
This is the place to go http://www.weakknees.com
I have an old Series 1 (not currently using it though) and a DirecTiVo box. There is no connection mechanism to go between the box and a computer. My ex husband had the same box and hacked it to add network capability, but mine doesn’t have it.
Mine has 80 hours of space (my old Series 1 was originally 35 hours, and we upgraded the hard drive on that one to 80 as well) which should be plenty, it’s just that like I said, I have a bunch of stuff archived currently that needs to be offloaded. Like probably 40 hours worth of shows and movies just sitting there waiting to be moved to storage media.
