FORD!
Ford has made good trucks for a long time. I still see a lot of Ford trucks from the 1970s in my area, that tells me that they are durable.
I think I prefer Toyota Tundras though. I’d get one but they are so damn expensive. I’d also like for Toyota to come out with a “real” full sized truck.
Is that why you are leaving on a jet plane, instead of driving? Can’t blame you.

I thought it was funny that on the last big job I did, everyone was discussing what truck was the best.
No facts beyond engine size and hauling ability.
Yet, everyone was adamant about which truck brand was better.
I rarely see this in car discussions, but get a bunch of construction workers together for a debate on TRUCKS and you better have some ice and bandages close by.
I prefer a full size Ford for my work truck. Part of this is simply inertia. 26 years ago my dad gave me a 1969 F-100 that he had purchased from Brown & Root. My current Ford can just about pull a house down. And it has room to put said house in the bed. I can pile a bunch of tools in the cab. The rest are in my truck box. Sounds neat, too. And it looks and feels like a truck. Comfortable, sure. But, it isn’t trying to act like a car. it’s a tool and it knows it.
My work partner drives a full size Dodge. Nice truck. I like my Ford better, that’s all.

…so sue me…
Wouldn’t that be a Fiat?
I was buying something or other at Autozone a few days ago.
While I was waiting in the checkout line a guy walked in through the entrance. He was an older fella, very tall, must have weighed about 300 pounds, had a red handlebar mustache, and wore a huge cowboy hat.
He stood at the door and quickly surveyed the scene before finally shouting,
“I drive a FORD and I come in here EVERY DAY!”
Everyone stood silent for a few seconds until he was met by several of the store’s patrons replying in near unison, "that’s because you drive a Ford!"

Toyota Tundra. Hauls everything I need to carry, and handles very well indeed.
Have had Ford, Chevy, GMC, Nissan. Liked them all, but the Tundra is acually the best truck I’ve had. Still doesn’t have the character of my '53 Chevy or '56 Chevy. Of course, some of that character would really be a fault in a car. My sons loved to watch the road underneath the Chevy as we drove along. It did have a few things that needed fixing.
I think I have an irrational attachment to my trucks.
sunstone, it’s not irrational to be attached to your truck. I know because I’m attached to my truck, a 1971 Chevy short-wheelbase Stepside. Sure, it ain’t the fastest (straight 6 coupled to a 3-on-the-tree transmission) or the prettiest (fleet white, needs washing) but my dad and I rebuilt the thing virtually from the ground up after it caught fire.
Being attached to a truck isn’t weird, because that truck is an extension of your personality. Embrace the truck.
