My turn for Jury Duty

I got the notice that I’m in the jury pool for May and June. The Federal jury pool.

I hope that, if I get selected, it’s not for an Enron-esque ‘battle of the uberaccountants’-type trial. Can you imagine sitting through something like that for months?

At least they pay $40/day. [sub] (Thankfully, my employer will make up the difference between that and my regular paycheck.)[/sub]

So…any good federal cases coming up in Minnesota?

Oh, it wasn’t that bad was it? Not compared to the Bank of England and BBCI Creditors case.

199 days for the two opening speeches - probably about 10 months elapsed, at a wild guess. Then on to the actual trial…

bonus points to all who spot the deliberate typo. Yeesh :smack:

My friend’s boyfriend was on a federal mob kingpin trial back in the late '80s early '90s. He was sequestered for something like 5 months. It was high drama.

I’d love to be on a jury. I’ve been called a couple times, but not in the last 15 years. And I vote!

My husband and I were both called for jury duty during the past year. It was my first time to go, despite being a registered voter for 10 years before that. I went through voir dire but was not selected for the final jury. My husband sat in the jury selection room for a few hours, and was eventually dismissed.

That was his second time. The previous time he was called in was several years ago, on a Monday morning after he’d spent the whole weekend working at the Texas Renaissance Festival. He used to play Little John in the Robin Hood troupe, so he worked all weekend until late Sunday night, then wound up just driving into town and reporting for jury duty still wearing his crushed velvet tights and leather costume, sweaty and muddy from a weekend in East Texas humidity. He wasn’t selected that time, either.
