Last night we had a BIG storm, with lightning & thunder & rain & hail. I’m sitting here speculating whether to evacuate to my sister’s house (she’s got a basement) when the cable goes out, so I turn off the TVs and get off the internet. Then came the lightning strike. It didn’t hit the house, just sounded like it did. After the storm, both TVs and the computer had bit the dust. The weird part about it, the power surge or whatever didn’t trip my surge protectors, I didn’t lose power, and the cable guy this morning couldn’t find any damage. Now I have to take the stuff to a repair place and see what happened so I can make a claim on my insurance. This really, really sucks!
If lightning is that close, unplug your TV, your computer, your microwave and and even you phone. Surge protectors can only offer limited protection. I hope that the situation is easily resolved.
