My two-year-old, 450-page webcomic is finished.

For those of you who don’t know, I make this relatively obscure little online comic called Ancient Messages. I’ve had it since July '00 and used to update it every single day. This was back when I was a bored high school senior with enough free-floating hatred to draw comic book pages in class.

A couple of months ago, I decided I couldn’t conceivably continue with AM, and that the best thing to do with it would be to end it gracefully and keep the comic around as a completed web project.

Tonight, I finished drawing, scanning and uploading the last of my pages. I cried when I scanned and uploaded the last one. :frowning:

I’m still kind of confused as to how I should feel about having it done. On one hand, I’m disappointed that I won’t be able to continue it anymore, but on the other, I’m proud of myself and I’ve had a lot of fun over the last few years. It’s also what got me into hanging around the Internet. And without that, I never would have met any of you wonderful people, or experienced the Greatness that Is Cecil.

For better or worse, Ancient Messages is set to end on Monday, August 19th.

I just got started on your comic- its awesome, I can’t stop clicking next comic.

I read a couple of pages of it. It looks good, actually. Pretty good undertaking for a kid, especially for so long. You might have the begining of something interesting there. Might want to check into publishing it – with a professional artist to neaten things up a bit. You should print out at least one hard copy and put in a binder.

All I can say is Wow!

Thanks, guys. Readers are cool.

I’ve got all 450 hand-drawn pages in a plastic drawer storage box I bought at Ikea or someplace when I first went to college. It’s almost depressing to look at.

People have told me to publish it before, but somehow I really doubt the return I’d make on it would even cover the cost of publishing it.

450 WORDS… A COMIC… TO BE READ OVER INTERNET… actualy it’s pretty good. When are you planning to launch a sequel?
