They’re mundane, ultimately pointless, and something for which I have a compulsion to share: they’re my vacation photos.

I had to study for and take a national licensure exam at the end of April and go back to start a very involving year of school in mid-May, so in between I took advantage of a sub $400 roundtrip fare from the states to Frankfurt, the cheapest rental car I could find, and as many free camping spots as I could locate along my route.
In 6 days, I put 3,000 km on the rental car, walked or ran about 30 miles, traveled through Germany, Austria, Slovenia, Italy, and Switzerland, saw the Giro d’Italia, took about 1,400 photographs, and this is what shook out.
Please, post links to what you regard as the best photographs from your own vacations.
Thanks for sharing the photos. The photo of Lake Bled is particularly beautiful.
Here ya’ go: where I’ve been the last ten years or so (plus some earlier stuff). I haven’t figured out where I’m off to next!
You have some terrific stuff, particularly Argentina, Morocco, and the Canadian Maratimes.
Thanks! I’ve been to some neat places, and have had some really good weather luck for getting memorable shots. By the way, in the Patagonia shots, I’m featured as “grubby tourist,” and in Canada, as “Jeff of Green Gables,” a photo that others have described as “disturbing.”
I liked the shots of Berlin in 1973.
Here are all of my photos. The most recent set is from my trip to Madrid and Lisbon last November. Other sets include some of my other travels (another EU trip, China, San Fran, …) and my parents’ travels (Japan, Italy, Ireland, …).
Those were rescued from some ancient and color-shifted slides lurking in a box. Certainly a different time. It took me a couple of hours to get through Checkpoint Charlie, since at the age of 20, I looked like trouble. That evening, we wandered into the closing ceremonies of the 10th World Youth Festival, with thousands upon thousands of blue-shirted socialist youths marching through the streets of Berlin. Had something of a Nuremberg Rally feeling to it.
Thank you so much threemae, Early Out, and kenner116!!! I haven’t even looked at them all yet but it is so nice of you to share a bit of your adventures with me! Some places I will never see.
It was great to see Arizona in there, Early! Brings back some happy San Fran and London memories, kenner!
