My Very First EuroVision Song Contest...come make your predictions!

Look at the Turkish singer’s curiously ridged forehead. She’s not Turkish at all. She’s Bajoran.

So far 4 songs and 2 occurances of an “uplifting” key change towards the end of the song.

Everything proceeding as per usual.

Somehow I knew there’d be a live discussion going on here.

When the presenters first arrived, my wife announced “My God – they’ve mugged a Muppet!” I was in hysterics for several minutes thereafter.

The Bosnia singer looks exactly like a cross between Phil Oakley and the dark-haired bird in the Human League. Doesn’t she?

Isn’t the Bosnian entry just a ripoff of Sex Bomb?

Terry on the BBC broadcast (thank the Lord for BBC Prime - SVT in Sweden take it all far too seriously) said more or less the same thing.

I’ve just realised the music in the background when the Potugeuse entry was runnign round the lighthouse was The Pixies.

How the hell did that happen?

Terry is on top form so far this year.

amanset - I said the same thing! My theory is that they’re going to incoporate more and more alternative music into the background links until we end up with Captain Beefheart or sommat. Kind of as a “comment” on the Eurovision genre.

I missed Terry’s comment while getting a snack, alas. Warped minds think alike.

Is anyone else now waiting for Antoine de Caunes to suddenly dance into shot?

In a swan suit.

And the Germans show the Russians what real lesbian chic is. Or is the lead singer actually Denis Quilley in drag?

That was the Charlatans in between songs, wasn’t it?

HOLY SHIT!!! Was that jjimm backstage with Tatu?

I counted all of three notes in the Tatu song, and most of those out of tune. Barfy.

And they didn’t show their breasts.

I was too busy posting on another forum to notice. If so then this is getting very weirtd, even more weird than when soemone with indie cred starting working for Match of the Day. I distinctly remember hereing My Bloody Valentine once.

I hadn’t actually heard Tatu before. I think that was easily the best of the entries so far. Granted, a bit off-key.

The Spanish song sucked.

The singer, however, shall one day be mine.
