My White House Petition - Payroll Taxes

Make the recently expired tax holiday (2% payroll reduction) permanent for the first $106,800 of income.
The fiscal cliff brokered by House and Senate extinguished the the payroll tax holiday sending Social Security payroll taxes from 4.2% to 6.2% on the first $106,800 of income. Since the poor and middle class are the engine for the U.S economy, this loss of $2,000+ a year should be kept in the pockets of the American people.This petition asks the Obama administration to recognize the fragility of the current economic recovery and permanently reinstate the payroll tax holiday for an individual’s first $106,800 of income.

You do realize that Obama can’t just re-instate the tax cut. It has to be Congress passing a law to make it happen. It was part of the Stimulus and the House GOP would not renew it in the compromise. Telling the White House to do something they tried and wanted to do but couldn’t because of things out of their control will not have much effect.
