Yeah, just like crack dealers, thieves, and assorted other criminals. Poor guy!
I have little patience with telemarketers; I’d like to encourage them to get DECENT jobs. But at least they’re LEGAL jobs. Not so the people who pretend to be Microsoft while trying to get you to surrender your computer to their malware so they can steal from you or use your computer to attack other computers. Too bad it’s not possible to actually damage them over the phone lines!
I tend to just set the phone down and go back to whatever I was doing and idly see how long it takes before they hang up. If I’m feeling nasty, I’ll say “OK, please hold” first.
The biggest rise I’ve ever gotten from these guys is when I asked one if his mother knew he was a criminal. He was really pissed, it was quite funny.

Two days ago I decided to start to humor them. He asked what was next to my CTRL key and I said BackSpace. Then I said there was a message on my screen for him - and said something really nasty about his mother and then hung up.
But I like the Hasadiga idea. When I think it is a call from them, I never say anything and wait for them to speak first - don’t give my name out that way.
