Myrtle Beach recommendations?

We’re taking all five kids to Myrtle Beach, SC in a few weeks, and none of us have ever been there before. Kids are 18, 17, 6, 2 and 1, so we’ll be looking for some activities to keep everyone happy and entertained.

Anybody have recommendations for dining, fun places, or things we should do or see while we’re there for five days?

I LOVED this buffet:

They had dungenes crabs on the buffet as big as your plate, I swear it. Absolutely worth the money.

The beach is great, of course. Bring a cooler and sandwiches with you if you’re on a budget. There is a Super Wal-Mart in town that you can get all of your food and beach supplies for on the cheap.

Oh! Oh! They have the best miniature golf courses ever.

I played that one the last time I was there and really had fun.

Brookgreen Gardens would be a must see, IMO.

Thanks y’all, and we’ll check those out. We’re not on a real tight budget, but keeping everyone amused is a huge project. We appreciate the ideas, and any more that might be forthcoming.

Right across the street from Brookgreen Gardens is Huntington Beach State Park. The castle-like Atalaya, the Huntington’s winter home, is worth checking out.

Don’t stay at the southern end of the beach. Very few restaurants. Bad food delivery. Misleading brochures. Just because it says “Resort” doesn’t mean it is classy.

Northern end is just fine. Have fun!

We’re on the north end; I just checked. Thanks for the tip!

Head up Hwy 17 to Calabash for dinner one night. There are 27,000 resturants within two blocks, all of which are the “first and original” Calabash seafood resturant.
