Myrtle Beach Vacation?

Air Force lost a nuke near Savannah in 1958

That’s probably it. I can see how the words “Savannah River”, after decades of association with the largest nuclear bomb manufacturing facility in the US, could confuse the issue a bit.

We are at the very north end of the beach, and the place seems to be alright to stay at (from what we can gather). Also, we aren’t that far (technically) from Canada, Bijou Drains, but it isn’t so much that the drive is too far, but also we went to Orlando and several spots in Florida last year. One must diversify vacations, obviously, so we try to pick a new destination every time.

We try to take the kids somewhere different each Spring Break.
Last year, for some reason, we picked Myrtle Beach.

I guess I thought a city with something like 150 golf courses would be a bit classier.
MB makes PCB look like royalty. It was like every trailer park in the country gets coupons or something. I think our family was the only one I saw with all of our teeth, and 4 matching tires on the truck.

Monaco, it is not.

That said, if you’re going anyway, I can second Rioz, the Brazilian restaurant.
My picky daughter just wanted some plain pasta with butter on it. That’s it.
I had called ahead to see if they had such a thing, and they didn’t, but the manager said he’d get some and to let him know when we got there.

He apparently grabbed an employee, gave him money, & sent him to the grocery store to get some.
I did let him know when we arrived, and they treated miss picky-eater like their finest guest.
The food was fantastic, but the service was better. That’s rare in my book. I know it’s just a 2 dollar bag of noodles, but the effort is what counts.

Broadway at the Beach is across the street, and is sooo touristy- they have 3 Sunglass Huts!
For some reason my kids fell in love with MagiQuest there, so much so that we had to take them back 3 different days. Bring money.

There are several nice restaurants as you drive north along 17; don’t be afraid to keep on going to North Carolina. It’s only about 10-12 minutes!

If you’re a golfer, bring your clubs. And money!
