N.Y. Attorney General Letitia James Indicted for Bank Fraud

James Comey wasn’t the only person who was vindicated today.

Unfortunately, the charges were dismissed without prejudice, so another prosecutor - lawfully appointed - could refile the case.

Or not.

Grand Jury Declines to Reindict Letitia James.

From the article:

A grand jury declined to reindict Letitia James, New York’s attorney general, rejecting efforts to revive a criminal case that had been sought by President Trump, according to people familiar with the matter. The unsuccessful attempt to revive the case against Ms. James does not necessarily end the administration’s efforts to put her on trial.

While true that Trump’s regime can continue to try to harass Ms. James with continuing grand jury proceedings, it’s not a good look.

I’ll take that as a win in these dark days, thanks for sharing @Aspenglow.

(the gift article has the summary, but the click through has a much more detailed list of the ongoing efforts)

Sadly though, it looks like they’re going to keep trying various sub-sub-sub cases with as many different jurisdictions and accusations as possible until Trump falls over, or they nail her with something.

It’s an unforgivable waste of resources and perversion of our justice system – but that’s nothing new with this regime.

What I found hopeful is that regular citizens see through it enough to not “indict a ham sandwich” – at least, in some jurisdictions. Good for them.

Grand jury doxxed in three … two … one …

Thanks for posting that. I’d hope this is the end of it.

Per your link:

Roger Keller, a federal prosecutor brought in from Missouri to handle the case after career lawyers determined the evidence was too weak to support charges

In these cases, they can’t find a single prosecutor in Virginia to bring the case.

May it long continue to be so! Like you, I hope this is now over for good and all.

I hope Roger Keller soon faces disbarrment.

I don’t know Roger, so I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt. Brought it before a grand jury and they no billed. The people have spoken. It’s now a clean proper no bill and has nothing to do with Halligan foul ups.

Now if Roger brings it again and again, and lies to the grand jury and files multiple conflicting indictments, I hope he faces disbarment.

I hope it is over for James, and cannot rule it out.

I’m sure it is not over for the Justice Dept. If Bondi hasn’t gotten an angry call from Trump yet, she’ll get it shortly.

Maybe Trump forgot about Greenland. But he won’t forget about this. It will be a test of whether he is a real dictator, or just a wannabe.

The plus is that any attempts to re-indict her just strengthens her case for malicious or vindictive prosecution.

According to an NPR article, they will try again. That’s according to an unnamed source who can’t be quoted because they aren’t supposed to talk about it.

Oh, darn. /s

Grand Jury Again Declines to Indict Letitia James

From the article:

A grand jury in Alexandria, Va., on Thursday rejected the Trump administration’s effort to bring new charges against Letitia James, the New York attorney general, according to people familiar with the matter, exactly one week after another set of jurors did the same.

The back-to-back failures by prosecutors to secure an indictment amounted to a striking rejection of the administration’s retribution campaign. It highlighted the Justice Department’s unusual strategy of pursuing second indictments despite earlier failures in court and suggested the department would face major hurdles in bringing charges against President Trump’s foes.

I wonder if/when we’ll get some strong language from any fed ct regarding the repeated questionable actions by DoJ, in this case, re: malicious prosecution. I realize courts are generally limited to addressing the specific dispute before them, but at some point, it becomes everso clear that this fish is rotting from the head!

This is exactly why we have grand juries.

I realize that Trump will never face justice, but it is sort of amusing that he’s committed the same sort of fraud that he was accusing James (and others) of doing.

Except, yeah, Trump really did lie about whether he was buying property as a primary residence or not.

Sayonara, Lindsey!
