Oops. Forgot to note that the bullet had to be removed from the knee at the hospital, which lends some additional support to the possiblility of a riccochet. It’s possible for heavy round bones to stop a pistol round, but it’s not expected for close range direct fire in a part of the body where there is very little soft tissue to trap the bullet.

Aren’t police armed with hollow point bullets to prevent ricochet, though? For that matter, do hollow points even affect that at all?

I draw this only from vague recollections floating in otherwise total ignorance, mind you.
