Ultimate Frisbee doesn’t use a net, it has end zones. http://www.whatisultimate.com/what/what_game_en.html
Ringette - it was touted as hockey for girls when I was a kid. Played on a standard hockey rink, players have what look like a hockey stick without the blade and use it to push a rubber ring around. It’s hockey with a ring and a pole, basically.
I haven’t heard anything about it since the 80’s, but I wouldn’t be surprised to find out it’s still around.
I think maybe they’d confused it with Frisbee golf. I’ve seen Frisbee golf course with chain link nets on the holes.
I thought about disc golf, but dismissed it for 2 reasons:
- It’s called a basket or a hole, never a net.
- The chains just hang straight down. They aren’t woven like a net.
Roller hockey and other variations of hockey use a puck. I don’t know if they count as separate sports though.
Surfing … the World-Wide Web… a.k.a. ‘the Net’…
I can’t believe I beat you dopes to this!
Spider-hunting?
Looks like someone beat you to it by several hours, dope.
Granted it’s not much of a cite but I never heard of ringette until I saw this a few weeks ago. Apparently they still play it in the funny papers.
NASCAR, sports car racing, or any other form of motorsport where window nets are used.
Eh, the shuttles are made with goose feathers, and they’ve always been shuttle shaped I think. Also, even if they were’nt, they sure as hell are now, so badminton does indead match the desciption.
Would you actually classify internet games as sports?
Snipe hunting?
Avoiding FBI dragnet?
Netclimbing (given some activity where speed is a factor, you can bet someone does it competitively) would be one, though I doubt you’d have an easy time of finding a cometitive league.
Anything competitive with mosquitos or bees would use a net. Same rule about speed above applies here.
If you could consider launching humans out of a cannon as a sport, then since that uses a net I’d wager it’d qualify. Same thing with circus acts (trapeze artists, tightrope walking and some trampoline acts from time to time).
I suppose “speed grieving” would be lacking just a touch in tact? Same with “speed marrying”, though those are veils rather than nets.
I hope I haven’t just given Fox a new idea for a show…
Ringette Canada, everything you ever wanted to know about ringette.
Net making?
We’re really scaping the barrel if anyone things net making is a sport. Sounds like an occupation to me.
