Name an arrogant celeb. Then tell why...

Baldwin’s status is “undetermined.” Eddie Vedder, Robert Altman and Pierre Salinger all said they’d move if Bush won in 2000. Mr. Salinger did. (cite)

For Salinger, wasn’t this more like going back home anyway? I believe he’d already spent most of the last several decades living in France and England. I think he’d only been in the U.S. a short time (and probably as a result of employment that required him to move here) when he returned to France.

Wow. Two whole people making obviously facetious statements. That hardly amounts to “all those celebs” promising to “pack up and leave.”

I submit that this still falls into the “bullshit” category. It’s a couple of sarcastic statements popularly exaggerated into a trend of Hollywood celebs making serious promises to leave the country. It’s stupid. I’ve heard people in real life saying that if X wins they’re going to “leave the country” before every election. Nobody takes it seriously and nobody who says it thinks that anyone else will take it literally. Trying to call people on this afterwards is just childish, IMO and so is trying to inflate the statements of a couple of people into a Hollywood-wide fad.

You say that as if it was a bad thing.

Hey, you asked for names of those celebrities and asked for a cite. I named some of those celebrities and provided a cite. The cite even included many celebrities who had “been said” to make the claim along with the information that there wasn’t information to substantiate the alleged claims. How can one be more fair than that? I guess I could have added that neither Mr. Vedder nor Mr. Altman mentioned packing up before leaving.

Yeah, SA, that’s right. Mr. Salinger has been mostly a resident of France for many years – I don’t know his citizenship status and I guess it doesn’t matter. But still, when you’re on a list of people which includes Pierre Salinger and he’s the honest one, that’s not so good.

Ernie Dingo and Vijay Singh are real people. What’s up with that?

Weeeell… I think the 2000 election was screwy enough (in a lot of ways!) that anyone who promised to leave if Bush won has some wiggle room!

I mean, I’d likethat no-talent asshole Robert Altman to leave the country as much as anyone (if you’ve seen “Ready to Wear,” “Dr. T” or “O.C. & Stiggs,” you understand why), but he could legitimately argue that Bush didn’t “really” win in 2000.

And as far as I know, he didn’t repeat the pledge in 2004. So, I guess we’re stuck with him!
