No, it’s not a band name. It’s the name of the current, mostly contained fire in the Columbia River Gorge near Mosier.
Where did the name “Microwave” come from? I missed the early news reports that might have explained it.
I couldn’t find anything specifically about where the Microwave Fire’s name came from. When I worked for the Forest Service, we were supposed to name fires after local terrain features.
Searching near Mosier, OR shows This- an AT&T Microwave relay. This appears to be right in the fire area and near the origin, so it’s probably named after this.
