All the backing vocals in Helter Skelter give the song that creepy edge. (of course all the Manson stuff did too) but any cover I hear of this song, they never do the background vocals like the Beatles original and the entire feeling of the song is lost.
I’ve always liked the line in ‘Why Don’t We Do It In the Road?’ where Paul sounds like Prince.
For everyone posting in this thread who can’t get enough of their favourite riffs and other fragments, I just wanted to share a blog I discovered the other day. It’s called Magnums Extended Remixes; the guy who runs it takes popular songs from the 1960s, 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s and remixes them so that they’re two to four times longer than the original. And he usually does a damn fine job of it, too. There are currently 23 Beatles remixes, and there are hundreds more from other artists (ABBA, The Monkees, Fleetwood Mac, Dire Straits, The Rolling Stones, Simon & Garfunkel, etc.).
