OK - not really exceptional…

That’s better… but:

Dani

Not exactly common, but not terribly uncommon, either.

Whaaa? Who names their female child Gregory? Poor girls must’ve been teased every day they went to school.

Actually, Linda was a more common name than Jennifer or Jessica when I (born 1959) was growing up. I even remember an article in Scholastic NewsTime (publication similar to My Weekly Reader) which stated that (quote not exact): “After years of John and Mary being the most frequently-given names to newborn babies in the U.S., it’s now John and Linda in the top spot.” Yet Lindsay/Lindsey/Lynsey has taken over the “Lin” function – I can’t think of any females named Linda who were born after 1975 or so.

OneYogini: Michel is the spelling of the French analogue to Michael.

As for me:

Okay, I know Roberta is a legitimate name, but I’ve never heard of a woman who was called Robert. As with Gregory and William, perhaps the count reflects old nuns who took male names as part of their vows. My aunt, after all, attended Catholic school in the 1940’s and was taught by a Sister Vladimir…

You’re kidding, right?

Satan shoots! Jesus saves!
