Name that bird

It’s a staple of the foley artist of decades ago, when adding sounds to jungle-themed films. It’s the bird call that goes, ‘Koo-koo-koo-koo-koo-koo! Cah! Cah! Cah! Cah!’

What is it?

kookaburra

Kookabuura.

:smack:

I should have guessed!

Merry merry king of the bush is he!

According to the movies, the Kookaburra probably has the most extensive range of any known bird.

For the record, they don’t live in jungles, but in woodland.

And in suburbia. It’s quite fun to wake up to a kookaburra’s laugh.

Another good “jungle bird” call is the Screaming Piha of Amazonia. This one actually does live in the jungle.

This old hit by Martin Denny sprang immediately to mind.
