Found this on a hearing aid site, posted 10-1-01. The page has a picture of his ear, but I really don’t think it will do much good past seeing that he wears glasses … here’s the clue.
This popular politician has been in his current office for the last eight years. Comparing him to any other counterpart would be like comparing apples to oranges.

Could be Vermont’s Defender General Robert Appel. He’s been in office eight years, according to this link. How’s that for a guess?
Nice … I didn’t think of the variant on apple. I found this, though, which shows that Appel was replaced sometime in August. That either means it wasn’t him because he wasn’t “currently in office” on 10/1/01. Or it could mean the question was faulty …
