David Drake & Eric Flint’s “An Oblique Approach” & following alternate history books?
Useless nitpick: assuming Lou was correct, Trading Places took place in Philadelphia, not NYC. True, the final trading scene was in NYC, but she worked as a hooker exclusively in Philly.
(My apologies: as a native Philadelphian and proud of it, I feel an annoying compulsion to correct those who think the movie was based in New York)

WRONG! Jon Voight’s character was named Joe Buck.
Joe Gillis is from an earlier movie.
Gah. I guess I’m not very good at naming your prostitutes, but I have a few:
Lorena Wood and Elmira Johnson
Stevie
Belinda Keaton
From Samipro’s list:
Miss Saigon?
From Otto’s:
Nicole Kidman’s character in Moulin Rouge
Futurama
I’ll add: Nutgobbler
Also:
Alice, Delilah, Crow Creek Kate, Little Sue, Faith and Silky.

Sin City…
and my additions would be Candy (though I am sure there are multiple workers with that name) and Evie.
Bree Daniels
Cassiopeia
Constance Miller
Yes, who gave it away, Crow Creek Kate?
Cassiopeia was the “sociolator” on the original Battlestar Galactica .
Bree Daniels was the character played by Jane Fonda in Klute .
Sampiro:
Scott Favor
, along with Mike Waters, My Own Private Idaho .

Obviously you’re not ready for your closeup.
And, if you must use such terms, go with “bitch” instead of “bastard,” please.
I’ll take “Categories You’ll Never See on Jeopardy” for $500, Sampiro.
Tra La La was the hooker in Last Exit to Brooklyn.
