This will be mostly for the older folks among us. Like me.
Without looking them up, can you name the song used as the radio and/or TV theme or signature tune for these performers?
Laurel and Hardy
Jack Benny
Burns and Allen
Bob Hope (that’s practically a gimme)
Alfred Hitchcock (loosely considered a performer, for his TV show intros)
These were all pre-existing works that were adopted for use by these folks.
Feel free to add your own performers (or shows) to the list, using the same premise.
Laurel and Hardy: the Cuckoo/On with the Show
Jack Benny: Love in Bloom
Burns and Allen: In Our Love Nest
Bob Hope (that’s practically a gimme): Thanks for the Memories
Alfred Hitchcock: Gounod’s Funeral March for a Marionette
Next: what Russian classical composer (from the “Mighty Five”, IIRC) was used for General Hospital?
Did you really know all those without looking them up?
By the way, my source has the Laurel and Hardy song as “March of the Cuckoos” but full credit anyway.
I have no idea about Gen Hosp, I never watched it. I just listened to several versions of the theme on Youtube (no references, so wasn’t cheating) but that theme sure doesn’t sound like a Russian composer. There were a bunch of different versions but they all had the same basic theme, just different treatments.
Yes, I knew them all without having to look them up.
I agree: None of the GH themes I listened to sounded Russian. Maybe you’re referring to incidental music?
Match these with their series (TV or movie): “The Fishin’ Hole,” “The Toy Parade,” “The Merry-Go-Round Broke Down,” “Bubbles in the Wine,” and “Holiday for Strings”?
One more: The “______ ___- _____,” alternately known as “You Can Come with Me” and “You Can Count on Me” (three separate versions).
