Name The Crappy Sci Fi Film

One of those things that has popped into my head for no apparent reason and stuck there, so I’m turning to the internet to give my head a good shake…

I’m having vague memories of some crappy sci fi film I saw when I was young, but I can’t remember what it was. It was pretty obviously inspired (if that is the right word) by Star Wars. Details I can remember:

  • Something about a prison planet?
  • A battle near the end. Troops were sent to board the enemy spaceship in individual flying coffin/torpedo thingies. The doors at the top flipped open and they would sit up and start firing their lasers.
  • A city/spaceship that had to be sacrificed at the end, as that was the only way to defeat the evil blah-de-blah overload sort of thing.

Even at age 8 I could tell it was pretty bad. Please put me out of my trivia related misery.

Starcrash?

We have a winner, and in only 9 minutes. Thanks.

Starcrash

Yep, that’s it, although I have no memory of David Hasslehoff shooting lasers from his eyes.

Here is a link for more StarCrash fun… Starcrash B-Movie Review

ETA: DAMMIT! I didn’t look at your link.

heh.

Never mind me…

I just looked at that link and can’t believe what I saw. The clip at the bottom showing the torpedoes crashing through the windows broke me up. It’s SOOO obvious that a couple of guys offstage just (barely) chucked it through the glass.

“Imperial Battle Cruiser… Stop the flow of time!”

This thread almost makes me want to dig out the VHS.

Almost.

I bought it for the camp value. But really, alcohol needs to be involved. (Or herb, only I don’t use it. It would help for this film, though.)

The only good thing about that movie

Now, be fair. I see two.

Was it worse than Lifeforce?

Oh yes. At least in Lifeforce, Mathilda May was showcasing her “talents” for most of the movie. In all her works the lovely Caroline Munro never did :frowning:
