That’s who I came in to mention. For more: Janice Lester | Memory Alpha | Fandom
Mad scientists do tend to be male, though…
Dr. Jenna-Jane Mulbridge from Mike Carey’s Felix Castor novels.
I realize she isn’t five, but the rest of the list is upthread.
Definitely not. Cold, detached, unemotional - but not mad. Not by a long shot.
Dr. Catherine Crabtree from Sluggy Freelance.
Frankenstein’s daughter, from Jesse James Meets Frankenstein’s Daughter. This Mexican poster may be the best film poster ever.
Not pictured: Billy the Kid vs. Dracula.
Is Mom from Futurama a scientist, or just a businesswoman? She clearly knows much of the science behind what her company makes, but I don’t know if she discovered/invented it, or just had the business vision to hire good scientists for the niche she wished to exploit, and then they in turn explained stuff to her.
Businesswoman, I’d say.
It’s definitely a contender, if only because there’s a large headline that declares “En Fabuloso Colores!” but the movie still is in black and white … unlike the REST of the poster.
Maybe Kaylee from Firefly? She’s kinda crazy and an engineering genius.
Kaylee is quirky, but only in sane ways.
Simmons from Marvel Agents of Shield
Root, from Person of Interest
Kat from Gunnerkrigg Court
Susan and Mary Test, from Johnny Test
Except for Root these are all fairly sane individuals, but they are all doing “mad science” - I mean, Victor Frankenstein is an archetype of mad scientist, and he’s not a crazy person.
I’m with you on Root simply because I like the idea of a mad computer scientist.
Oh, nice one.
I’d also name Opal Koboi from the same series. I’m only up to book 5, though, so I haven’t encountered the one you name yet.
Professor Poofenplotz from Phineas and Ferb was the only one I could think of before I read this thread.
Heh. Occasionally angry but not Mad as far as I know.
So when do we get to learn the OP’s motivation for this thread?
- Agatha Heterodyne (Girl Genius)
- Lucrezia Mongfish (Girl Genius. Inevitable, since Agatha came to mind first.)
- Lucca (Chrono Trigger)
- Sofia Lamb (The mad social scientist in BioShock 2.)
- Pamela Isley (Poison Ivy, Batman)
Dr Ann Possible of Kim Possible was a non-mad brain surgeon.
Madeline Fenton, from Danny Phantom was a Mad Scientist in the Ghostbuster mode.
